Authors' objectives: To determine whether there is any evidence to support the (causal) association between working in the flood and fire restoration industry and development of prostate cancer.
Authors' results and conclusions: The initial search on Ovid did not identify any published study. A further search yielded 726 studies that were identified. Fifty-five thesis papers were identified through a search on ProQuest database. No published study was identified from a search on NIOSHTIC-2 database. Overall, there were 781 studies, published and un-published, identified in this systematic review. Upon examination of the titles and abstracts, the 781 studies failed to identify any study that was relevant to the objective of this systematic review. At present, there is no data to support the (causal) association between working in the fire and flood restoration industry and the development of prostate cancer.
Authors' methods: A comprehensive and systematic literature search was conducted on January 11, 2024. The search was done on commercial and non-commercial medical literature databases. A combination of keywords was employed on this search. No limitation, such as on the language or date of publication, was implemented in this search. A manual search was also done on the references of the articles that were retrieved in full.
