Original Title: Audífonos CROS y BICROS en hipoacusia unilateral o bilateral asimétrica.
Authors' recommendations: "Conclusions Low-quality evidence suggests that CROS and BICROS hearing aids may yield a considerable net benefit in this disease's quality of life measurements, when compared to not using any device, in patients with severe/deep unilateral and asymmetric bilateral hearing loss. The benefit would be equivalent to that of the bone conduction hearing devices. Regarding conventional hearing aids, they are not mentioned as the main comparator because they are indicated for other indications such as mild/moderate hearing loss. Most of the clinical practice guidelines consulted suggest the use of CROS and BICROS hearing aids in patients with severe/deep unilateral and asymmetric bilateral hearing loss, both in children and adults. These recommendations were based on expert opinions, prior to the publishing of the latest efficacy studies on this technology. Regarding the coverage policies reviewed, coverage for CROS and BICROS hearing aids is not mentioned by most of Latin American and United States funding agencies. However, they are covered by organizations from high-income countries. In Argentina, this technology is not included in the Compulsory Medical Program, nor recovered through the Reimbursement System for Disease Management. No cost-effective and/or budget impact evaluations for CROS and BICROS hearing aids were found. Nevertheless, the cost of this technology is more than twenty times lower than its comparator."
