Authors' objectives:

This study aims to assess the effects of Bernese periacetabular (pelvic) osteotomy in people with congenital or developmental acetabular dysplasia, compared with other operative treatments or conservative treatment.

Authors' recommendations: We found some evidence that Bernese periacetabular osteotomy improved pain and walking in people with hip dysplasia. We found insufficient evidence on the size of these benefits compared with alternative surgical approaches. We found insufficient evidence that Bernese periacetabular osteotomy reduces risk of total hip replacement and time to total hip replacement compared with other treatments.
