Authors' objectives:

This study aims to assess the effects of uterine artery embolisation (UAE) for women with uterine fibroids, compared with other treatments.

Authors' recommendations: We found limited evidence that UAE reduces length of stay and time to return to normal activities compared with hysterectomy. We found insufficient evidence of benefits (including fertility) or harms of UAE compared with myomectomy or medical treatments, which may be particularly important for women who wish to preserve their fertility. We found no reliable evidence on the long term effects of UAE compared with other treatments.
