Authors' objectives:

This study aims to assess the effects of breast augmentation on quality of life or social and psychological health in women with healthy breasts requesting breast augmentation, compared with no treatment or other treatments.

Authors' recommendations: We found limited evidence that breast augmentation improves psychosocial health or quality of life. Many of the identified studies reported improvements in aspects of psychosocial functioning following breast augmentation. However, all had important methodological weaknesses for assessing the effects of breast augmentation on psychosocial health or quality of life compared with other treatments.
