The UHC Drug Monographs are a continuing series of authoritative, concise evaluations of new and emerging pharmaceuticals. Monographs are written by drug information specialists and pharmacotherapists at institutions affiliated with UHC, and UHC coordinates their creation and edits them. In general, the focus is on drugs or classes of drugs that can be expected to significantly affect patient care or hospital finances. Therapeutic class reviews compare and contrast drugs within a pharmacologic class to evaluate their relative advantages, and they address issues concerning therapeutic interchange. Each monograph includes comprehensive information from the primary literature and provides recommendations for appropriate use.
Individual drug monographs can be ordered from Tammy Travis at $50 each (tel: 630-954-6692; email: travis@uhc.edu).
