Transesophageal endoscopic treatments for gastroesophageal reflux disease
This Assessment addresses 3 transesophageal endoscopic procedures for gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD): endoscopic suturing, radiofrequency energy delivery, and implantation of inert polymers. The available evidence is reviewed to determine health outcome effects such as relieving symptoms, preventing long-term complications, and the rate of adverse events as compared to the following alternatives: sham endoscopic treatment; continued medical therapy; and open or laparoscopic Nissen fundoplication.
