This aim of this report was to assess the effectiveness of bolus versus continuous infusion of antibiotics in paediatric patients and its effect on intravenous access patency.

Authors' recommendations: - No studies were identified that directly assessed patency after intravenous bolus or slow infusion of antibiotics in paediatric patients. - No studies were identified which met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. - Two studies were located which assessed patency after bolus versus slow intravenous infusion in adults.
