This aim of this report was to assess the effectiveness of the Mini Mental State Examination in predicting discharge destination for geriatric patients in acute health care.
Authors' recommendations:
- One article was reviewed that met the inclusion and exclusion criteria.
- The study found the Mini Mental State Examination of no predictive value in distinguishing the patients discharge destination.
- The study reviewed had a number of limitations in study design and reporting of results.
- Based on the single study reviewed, there is insufficient evidence to conclude that the Mini Mental State Examination is an effective tool to predict the discharge destination of elderly patients in acute care facilities.
