Pons JM, Granados A
Record ID 31998008696
Catalan, English, Spanish
Authors' objectives:

To analyse experience in Catalonia with the implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD), to shape its future utilization and to analyse the elements to be considered in the assessment of this health technology.

Authors' recommendations: The data obtained in Catalonia as regards the use of ICD do not substantially differ from those referred to in other contexts. During the period observed, there was an important technological change and an increase of its diffusion in several countries. Its high unit cost, its broad diffusion and its potential trends pose a challenge to health care systems.
