Authors' objectives:
To determine if there is any evidence on the potential (causal) association of being a (volunteer) firefighter and developing Polycythemia Vera.
Authors' results and conclusions:
One published study was identified from our search. However, examination of the title and abstract showed that that this study was not relevant to the objective of this systematic review. At present, there is no data or published study to support the potential (causal) association between being a firefighter and developing Polycythemia Vera.
Authors' methods:
A comprehensive and systematic literature search was conducted on September 21, 2023. A combination of keywords were employed in these searches. No limitation, such as on the language or date of publication, was implemented in any of these searches. A manual search on the references of the articles that were retrieved in full was planned.
