Authors' objectives: To determine whether there is any evidence on the efficacy and/or effectiveness of platelet rich plasma in treating (recurrent) anterior shoulder dislocation or in Bankart repair.
Authors' results and conclusions: Four studies were identified from our searches. Upon examination on the titles and abstracts of these four studies, none were relevant/provide any data that were relevant to the objective of this systematic review. To date, there is no published study to support (or refute) the efficacy and/or effectiveness of platelet rich plasma in treating (recurrent) anterior shoulder dislocation or in Bankart repair.
Authors' methods: A comprehensive and systematic literature search was conducted on commercial medical literature databases on March 7, 2023. A combination of keywords, from specific to more general, was employed in this search. No limitations, such as on the language or date of publication, were implemented in any of these searches. For any articles retrieved in full, manual searches on the references of these articles were conducted.
