Original Title:
Prévention de la néphropathie induite par les agents de contraste iodés lors d’une intervention radiologique
Authors' objectives:
This evaluation report concerns the prevention of renal failure in patients at risk of developing nephropathy following an X-ray examination requiring the injection of a contrast medium.
Authors' recommendations:
This evaluation report recommends abandoning two common practices in the hospital: (1) administration of N-acetylcysteine (Mucomyst™) alone or concurrently with hydration, and (2) hydration with sodium bicarbonate. In addition, we recommend an intravenous sodium chloride hydration procedure.
