Authors' recommendations: Moderate-quality evidence shows that radiofrequency-assisted surgery in patients with inferior turbinate hypertrophy is likely to result in a lower net benefit given the mild improvement in efficacy and safety when compared with other conventional surgeries. Moderate-quality evidence shows that radiofrequency-assisted surgery in patients with inferior turbinate hypertrophy is probably less effective than microdebrider-assisted surgery, with lower efficacy in objective and subjective results (“negative” net benefit). In terms of safety, radiofrequency-assisted surgery would show a lower rate of adverse events. At present, in Argentina, microdebridement is not a routine procedure. Only one clinical practice guideline from Turkey was found, mentioning radiofrequencyassisted surgery as a possible therapeutic option in patients with turbinate hypertrophy and allergic rhinitis. The public funders from the United Kingdom, Australia and a private funder from the United States of America, cover radiofrequency-assisted turbinate reduction surgery. The rest of the private and public funders, as well as other clinical practice guidelines consulted, do not mention this technology. No local or international economic evaluations about the cost-effectiveness or budget impact of radiofrequency-assisted turbinate reduction surgery for this indication have been found.
