Original Title: Biorretroalimentación anorrectal en constipación primaria
Authors' recommendations: Low-quality evidence suggests that biofeedback therapy in chronic primary constipation may have a higher net benefit in terms of overall clinical improvement versus standard of care (diet, exercise, drug therapy, education). It may also show resolution of a dyssynergic defecation pattern and improvement in the quality of life of patients. The clinical practice guidelines consulted agree on recommending its use as first-line therapy in patients with dyssynergic defecation pattern and to treat symptoms of defecation disorders as part of an initial approach to these patients. Among the Latin American health funders consulted, Brazil is the only one covering it. The United States state funder and two private funders also provide coverage for this treatment. No cost-effectiveness or budgetary impact studies have been found in Argentina.
