Authors' objectives:

This report aims to review the available literature on endoluminal gastroplication for gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GORD).

Authors' results and conclusions: Data at six months follow-up, from the one case-series paper, indicate that endoluminal gastroplication may reduce some symptoms of GORD. However, the paucity of good quality data limits the ability to draw any conclusions regarding the efficacy of this procedure. Further research focusing on randomised trials is needed in this area.
Authors' recommendations: Since there is currently insufficient evidence pertaining to endoluminal gastroplication for gastro-oesophageal reflux disease, public funding should not be supported at this time for this procedure.
Authors' methods: Systematic review
