Authors' objectives:
To assess the effectiveness, safety, and cost-effectiveness of laser fluorescence to detect tooth decay within the tooth structure.
Authors' results and conclusions:
Although laser fluorescence may consider as a valuable device for decay diagnostic, there are concerns regarding its efficacy and accuracy, for instance, there is no relation between the number showed by the laser fluorescence device and depth of decay.
Authors' recommendations:
Laser fluorescence may be used as an adjunct diagnostic tool in primary and secondary caries.
