[Health technology assessment of endovascular coil treatment of intracranial aneurysms]
Danish Centre for Evaluation and Health Technology Assessment
Record ID 32002000821
Danish
Authors' objectives:
The aim of this report is to consider a) Danish and foreign experiences with endovascular coil treatment for intracranial aneurysms b) The number of patients to be expected c) Economic consequences for Aarhus Kommunehospital d) Organizational consequences for the departments involved at Aarhus Kommunehospital.
Authors' recommendations:
Despite the lack of long-term results beyond 9-10 years, using endovascular coil treatment is an attractive alternative to surgery, and in some cases the only possible treatment. The number of patients is sufficient to establish the coil treatment in Jutland, and with the estimated economic conditions it is possible to offer the treatment at Aarhus Kommunehospital.
