Authors' objectives:

This report aims to evaluate the requirements for hospitalization for internal radiotherapy.

Authors' recommendations: The conditions required for the practice of nuclear medicine in the AP-HP, the very probable increase of indications for internal radiotherapy, and the implementation of regulations governing radioactive safety, all lead the CEDIT to recommend an increase in the capacity of hospitals to house patients requiring internal radiotherapy. However, for acute cancerology indications, where internal radiotherapy seems to offer new opportunities, it is very difficult to forecast how much development needs to be planned. It appears beneficial, therefore, that all technical facilities be concentrated in specialized and highly specialized cancer centres. The CEDIT emphasizes that all plans to increase the number of beds for internal radiotherapy in the AP-HP be part of current availability within the AP-HP and outside it.
