Original Title: Efectividad clínica de la pulsioximetría para el cribado neonatal de las cardiopatías congénitas críticas
Authors' objectives: The main objective of this report is to review the existing evidence on the clinical effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of neonatal screening for DCCCs in asymptomatic newborns using PO in the first hours after birth
Authors' results and conclusions: The systematic review and meta-analysis conducted for this report confirm the diagnostic effectiveness and clinical utility of PO for screening newborns with CCCD, as well as its cost-effectiveness. The difficulty in generalizing the results of the economic evaluation studies is recognized, since both aspects related to diagnostic and therapeutic effectiveness, as well as costs, are highly variable and depend on each social-healthcare setting, even with possible differences within the same country
