Original Title:
Angioplastía con stent en pacientes con trombosis venosa profunda
Authors' recommendations:
Low-quality evidence suggests that angioplasty with stent placement in patients with acute deep vein thrombosis in lower limbs might reduce recurrent venous thromboembolism and post-thrombotic syndrome at mid-term.
Very low-quality evidence does not allow to make conclusions on the effectiveness and safety of angioplasty with stent placement to treat post-thrombotic syndrome.
Most guidelines consulted do not mention angioplasty with stent placement in patients with deep vein thrombosis. The United States, United Kingdom and Latin America public funders do not mention angioplasty with stent placement in patients with acute deep vein thrombosis or post-thrombotic syndrome. Most Unites States private funders consulted consider it as an experimental technology for these indications.
No domestic economic studies on the cost-effectiveness of this technology for the indications assessed have been found.
