Original Title: Terapia Reiki en ansiedad, depresión o dolor
Authors' recommendations: Low quality evidence suggests that adding Reiki to the standard of care would not have additional clinical benefits on pain, anxiety or depression in patients with different clinical conditions when compared with adding Reiki-placebo. Low quality evidence suggests that adding Reiki to the standard of care might have mild benefits on pain, anxiety or depression in patients with different clinical conditions when compared with adding other supplementary therapies such as massage therapy. The main clinical practice guidelines on chronic pain, depression or fatigue management in cancer patients mention Reiki as a supplementary treatment; however, and based on the quality of the existing evidence, no favorable recommendation can be made. None of the public health funders from Latin America, Europe or US consulted covers this therapy. The US private health funders do not cover Reiki as supplementary to medical standard of care in chronic health conditions as they consider this therapy as experimental. No economic evaluations or budget impact analysis studying the impact of Reiki on these health conditions have been found.
