Original Title: Plasma rico en plaquetas en cirugía maxilofacial
Authors' recommendations: CONCLUSIONS Low-quality evidence may suggest that the use of platelet-rich plasma would be associated to a higher probability of short-term bone formation in the treatment of maxillary sinus defects, as well as less pain after retained third molar removal and higher likelihood of bone formation and soft tissue healing in the remaining defect. Public health sponsors consulted from Argentina and the rest of the world do not cover or mention this treatment. One of the three clinical practice guidelines assessed does not recommend the use of platelet-rich plasma in maxillofacial surgery while the rest of them do not mention this technology. In Argentina, the cost-effectiveness of platelet-rich plasma for use in maxillofacial surgery is unknown.
