Authors' recommendations: CONCLUSIONS Very low quality evidence does not allow drawing conclusions on the effectiveness of dual target deep brain stimulation in patients with dystonia refractory to medical treatment. The included studies presented contradictory results when evaluating the improvement in the severity of the pathology, as measured by the Burke-Fahn-Marsden dystonia assessment scale and the abnormal involuntary movement scale at one week and six months after surgery. No studies with longer follow-up were identified. No clinical practice guidelines, technology evaluation reports or coverage policies mentioning the dual target technology for refractory dystonia have been found. Deep brain stimulation for refractory dystonia is approved in Argentina, although it does not specify to what target it is directed. We did not find economic evaluations of the double objective technology for refractory dystonia.
