Original Title: Plasma rico en plaquetas en úlceras del pie diabético
Authors' recommendations: CONCLUSIONS Low-quality evidence does not allow determining the efficacy of platelet-rich plasma in diabetic foot ulcer healing when compared with conventional therapy. No evidence indicating that the use of this technology is associated to a better quality of life or lower risk of lower extremity amputation at long term has been found. None of the public health sponsors consulted from Argentina or from the rest of the world covers this treatment; and none of the United States private sponsor consulted covers it either. The clinical practice guidelines assessed do not recommend the use of platelet-rich plasma to treat diabetic foot ulcers because the evidence available is considered insufficient and heterogeneous. One scientific society from Argentina considers that this technology is an alternative treatment among the available options. The cost-effectiveness of platelet-rich plasma for diabetic foot ulcer treatment in Argentina is unknown.
