CONCLUSIONS
Moderate quality evidence shows that in couples of advanced maternal age and/or history of previous failed assisted reproduction outcomes, a preimplantational genetic diagnosis to detect aneuploidies (PGT-A) might increase the probability of achieving a live new born after each embryo transfer when compared with performing the morphologic study of the embryo. This effect might also be observed, although with lower benefit, in couples of no advanced maternal age or history of previous failed assisted reproduction outcomes.
Most clinical practice guidelines recommend the use of PGT-A as an assistance method in selecting embryos during assisted reproduction technologies in couples at high risk of developing aneuploidy embryos (advanced maternal age, history of previous failed assisted reproduction outcomes, repeated miscarriages or history of genetic diseases in parents or descendants).
Public health sponsors from the United Kingdom and Australia, and some private health sponsors from the United States cover this technology for assisted reproduction technologies in couples at high risk of developing aneuploidy embryos.
