Original Title: Puntaje óseo trabecular (trabecular bone score-TBS) en diagnóstico de fragilidad ósea
Authors' recommendations: CONCLUSIONS High-quality evidence shows that the Trabecular Bone Score (TBS) obtained using TBS iNsight? allows determining fracture risk due to bone fragility in postmenopausal women. Adding the Trabecular Bone Score to FRAX? barely increases the diagnostic value of fracture risk versus its use in isolation. Moderate-quality evidence shows that the use of the Trabecular Bone Score allows recategorization of those patients whose clinical characteristics or densitometry values do not determine themselves the treatment approach to follow to treat osteoporosis. Low-quality evidence suggests that in postmenopausal women with Type 2 diabetes, TBS might allow a better identification of fracture risk due to bone fragility than densitometry. Moderate-quality evidence shows that TBS might not adequately measure the risk of spine fracture in men over 65 years old. One clinical practice guideline from Argentina and four international ones mention TBS as an additional valid method to estimate the fracture risk due to bone fragility. National and foreign state and private health sponsors do not mention the use of TBS.
