Original Title: Diseño y validación de una herramienta de cribado para la evaluación de impacto en salud de las políticas autonómicas
Authors' objectives: To elaborate and validate a health equity-based tool to screen the policies, plans and programmes of the Basque regional government that may benefit from an Health Impact Assessment (HIA).
Authors' results and conclusions: This research project, which aimed to validate a tool for use in the HIA screening of sector-based public policies, has allowed progress to be made in inter-sector work and the barriers and elements essential for its implementation and the social determinants at which part of the governmental actions are aimed to be understood.
Authors' methods: This is a study to elaborate and subsequently validate a screening tool for HIAs. Elaboration was based on the social determinants of health inequalities model. Once the tool had been designed, the screening process was defined and both were evaluated by application to 14 sector-based policies from the Basque regional government and a qualitative study to determine the perceptions of the people responsible for these policies who participated in the study.
