Original Title: Fijación sacroilíaca. Cirugía abierta frente a percutánea.
Authors' objectives: The aim of this study was to assess the comparative efficacy/effectiveness and safety in the SIJ fusion by open surgery versus minimally invasive surgery, in adult patients with chronic sacroiliac pain.
Authors' results and conclusions: -Minimally invasive surgery reduces hospitalization time, estimated blood loss and operation room time compared to open surgery (level of evidence 3). Minimally invasive surgery reduces hospitalization time, estimated blood loss and operation room time compared to open surgery (level of evidence 3). -The two tracks have clinically significant reductions in pain at 2 years follow-up being the greatest reduction in percutaneous intervention (evidence level 3). -Adverse events were slightly higher in the open surgery compared to the minimally invasive surgery (evidence level 3).
Authors' recommendations: In patients diagnosed with sacroiliac joint pain, refractory to any conventional therapy (pharmacological, physiotherapy, rehabilitative, denervation) and in which the joint fusion is presented as the last treatment option, is recommend minimally invasive surgery versus open surgery (Grade of Recommendation D).
