Original Title: Tallos de crecimiento electromagnéticos para el tratamiento de la escoliosis de aparición precoz de diversa etiología
Authors' objectives: The aim is to evaluate the effectiveness, safety and costs of magnetic growth rods in comparison with conventional growth rods systems.
Authors' results and conclusions: •Studies located on device MAGEC® present limitations related to the risk of bias of the studies and the limited follow-up period of patients, so the conclusions should be viewed with caution. •The available evidence shows that the device MAGEC® is an effective treatment in the children’s treatment with early onset scoliosis and surgical indication. •The device showed non-inferiority clinical with the conventional systems (conventional growing rods systems) in de novo patients, not being this inferiority studied in patients with need of surgical reintervention for scoliosis. •The information about economic aspects are limited to only two costcomparison analysis. Both studies highlighted that the initial cost of the MAGEC® system are higher than conventional system, but after three to four years, conventional system is getting more expensive
