Original Title: Utilidad de la resección de metástasis pulmonares en pacientes diagnosticados de cáncer colorrectal
Authors' objectives: The aims was to evaluate the utility in terms of efficacy, effectiveness and safety of metastasectomy in treatment of pulmonary metastases, (single or multiple) for colorectal cancer.
Authors' results and conclusions: No studies were found with comparative efficacy evaluation of metastasectomy in terms of survival. The evidence about effectiveness seems to show a decrease of mortality, although the quality of evidence was low and the risk of bias was high. The evidence about safety did not show associated mortality with the intervention. The prognostic factors most frequently identified in the literature were: the presence of mediastinal lymph nodes infiltration and high prethoracotomy level of carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA).
