Supporting clinical practice guidelines development: An appraisal of existing cholesterol testing guidelines

Savoie I, Bassett K, Kazanjian A
Record ID 31998008133
English
Authors' objectives:

The aim of the appraisal was to review and evaluate the process used in developing selected cholesterol testing guidelines and to determine the extent to which these existing guidelines were "evidence-based".

Authors' recommendations: Overall, the poor validity of existing cholesterol testing guidelines suggests that the decision to endorse and further disseminate existing guidelines should only be made after the internal validity of a guideline has been rigorously assessed.
