Authors' recommendations: Scarce evidence of moderate quality shows that in hemodialyzed patients, Intradialytic Parenteral Nutrition improves nutritional parameters with no significant differences versus enteral nutrition. No benefits as to quality of life or morbidity and mortality were found either. Current evidence does not support its use in patients with normal gastrointestinal function. The clinical practice guidelines and coverage policies agree on not recommending or covering the technology in patients with a working gastrointestinal system.
