Authors' recommendations:
The evidence on fundus autofluorescence usefulness for the diagnosis of retinopathies is scarce and of low methodological quality, showing different results in terms of its usefulness. The clinical practice guidelines consulted agree on the fact that its usefulness is uncertain. One health technology assessment that includes a systematic review considers that the currently available evidence is not enough to consider its usefulness to diagnose age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy and cystoid macular edema.
