Authors' objectives: Lifitegrast is a new drug to treat the signs and symptoms of dry eye disease. Dry eye disease occurs when the eyes do not make tears properly, the tears are not of the correct consistency, or tears evaporate too quickly. This leads to inflammation in the front surface of the eye, and discomfort or problems with vision. Lifitegrast is taken as an eye drop and prevents inflammation of the eye.
