Authors' recommendations: Description of Technology: The EX-PRESS Glaucoma Filtration Device (EGFD) is a miniature, stainless steel aqueous shunt that is implanted using a modified surgical trabeculectomy. Once inserted, the filtration device immediately begins to shunt aqueous humor from the anterior chamber to the subconjunctival space forming a conjunctival filtering bleb. Patient Population: The EGFD is indicated to reduce intraocular pressue in patients with open-angle glaucoma who have not responded satisfactorily to medical or conventional surgical treatments.
