Authors' recommendations:
Low quality evidence suggests that hyperbaric oxygen therapy in association with drug therapy could have a small benefit of questionable clinical relevance in improving hearing threshold of patients with idiopathic sudden sensorineural hearing loss. In regards to second line treatment, hyperbaric oxygen therapy has shown to have a similar effect to the administration of intratympanic glucocorticoids.
Most of clinical practice guidelines do not recommend its routine use. Most of consulted health sponsors of Latin America, Europe and the United States do not provide coverage.
