Authors' recommendations: Low-quality evidence does not allow to conclude if radioembolization and chemoembolization with drug-eluting microspheres are worse, similar or better than other standard treatments for primary or metastatic liver tumor. Most international clinical practice guidelines agree that the evidence is not enough, although sometimes they consider its potential use as an additional alternative (specially radioembolization with drug-eluting microspheres) in very special cases of irresecable tumors. Coverage policies of the US private sponsors consulted consider radioembolization with drug-eluting microspheres for specific cases of irresecable tumors and they consider chemoembolization with drug-eluting microspheres as experimental.
