Authors' objectives: Health Technology Assessement of the different HD (Hemodialysis) modalities in Italy via adaptation to local context of the following report "Health technology assessment of the different dialysis modalities in Norway" (Kunnskapssenteret no.19-2013. Oslo:Norwegian Knowledge Centre for the Health Services, 2013. Pike E, Hamidi V, Ringerike T, Wisløff T, Desser A, Harboe I, Klemp M.).
Authors' recommendations: The quality of available data on the efficacy and safety is low. The economic conclusions of the source Norwegian report were not applicable to the Italian context. These reported dialysis at home as the most efficient and cost-effective from the point of view of the health system and the society. Information delivered to patients about positive aspects and drawbacks of each treatment and the possible modalities of delivering the therapy is an issue that must be addressed.
