Authors' recommendations: There was no article retrieved from the electronic databases on the efficacy, safety or cost-effectiveness of filterless 5-in-1 air cleaner or air purifier. Only limited unpublished evidence given by the manufacturer was available. All the studies have no comparison. Nevertheless the studies indicated that the filterless 5-in-1 air cleaner seemed to be effective against fungi, viruses and bacteria. However, emission of ozone by this device is a concern. Based on the review, the effectiveness of filterless 5-in-1 air purifier system cannot be determined since all the studies included were conducted in non-clinical settings.
