Authors' objectives: The Freedom Spinal Cord Stimulator (SCS) system is an implantable neurostimulator developed by Stimwave Technologies Ltd, and distributed in the UK by Optimus Medical. It is intended to be used for patients with chronic back and leg pain with retractable symptoms for over 12 months. The company states that the typical patient population includes patients suffering from failed back surgery syndrome, radicular pain, post-laminectomy pain, degenerative disk disease, peripheral causalgia, or unsuccessful disc surgery.
