Authors' objectives:
To assess the clinical value of procedures for treating adults with dental agenesis due to rare genetic diseases in order to advise French National Health Insurance (NHI) on the reimbursement of these procedures. The present assessment was carried out within the framework of the Rare Diseases Programme set up by the French Ministry of Health and Solidarity.
Authors' recommendations:
Rehabilitation with removable implant-supported denture is a good alternative to conventional denture for treating multiple dental agenesis. Implant-supported dentures have considerable functional, aesthetic and psychological advantages over conventional dentures.
In these specific genetic syndromes the safety and efficacy of surgical and prosthetic procedures depend on interdisciplinary management, which is decisive for successful treatment outcomes.
