Authors' recommendations: There is moderate quality evidence to indicate that dynamic magnetic resonance imaging has good specificity and moderate sensitivity for hepatocellular carcinoma diagnosis in lesions less than 2 cm diameter. The clinical practice guidelines support the use of this technique, as an alternative in diagnosing hepatocarcinoma in patients with chronic liver disease and focal liver lesions detected with other methods, although there is no evidence to indicate it is better than triphasic computed tomography scan.
