Authors' recommendations: There is no evidence to justify a comprehensive vitamin D screening in the population in order to indicate supplementation aimed at improving health outcomes such as overall mortality, cardiovascular or immune diseases or cancer. Moderate-quality evidence suggests that vitamin D measurement should be carried out on patients who have osteoporosis, malabsorption syndromes, kidney failure, hyperparathyroidism or patients who take medication affecting vitamin D metabolism.
