Authors' recommendations:
The evidence on deep brain stimulation in patients with treatment-refractory depression, obsessive compulsive disorder and Tourette syndrome is scarce and of low methodological quality. After analyzing such evidence, the conclusion drawn indicates that there is much uncertainty of its potential efficacy, effectiveness and safety. The consulted sponsors and clinical practice guidelines agree on the following: they do not recommend it or consider it experimental in these indications.
