Authors' objectives:
To evaluate the efficacy and safety of the duodeno-jejunal bypass sleeve (DJBS) device (Endobarrier®) for the treatment of patients with obesity grade II or greater (with co-morbidities) and patients with diabetes mellitus type II plus obesity grade I or greater.
Authors' recommendations:
The scientific quality of studies on efficacy and safety is scarce and in many cases missing data on principal outcomes. There is little information on the long-term benefit for patients. Therefore, with the current evidence available, the routine use of this device is not recommended.
