Authors' recommendations: Evidence of poor methodological quality suggests the potential usefulness of an antibody screening panel for the diagnosis and prognosis of idiopathic inflammatory myopathies. However, traditional classification criteria still in force and applicable to daily diagnostic practice do not include autoantibodies. Clinical practice guidelines do not mention or recommend the use of the panel. Dosing of some of them may be useful for assessing each patient on an individual basis. If several individual antibody tests were requested, the panel would be less expensive. Only one international coverage policy found provides coverage for this screening.
