Authors' objectives: This Special Report has 2 goals: (1) to review comparative studies of EIBI and assess patient or intervention characteristics that might moderate treatment effects; and (2) to examine existing systematic reviews of other types of behavioral interventions for children with ASD.
Authors' recommendations: Early intensive behavioral intervention: There is no strong evidence supporting associations of any patient, treatment-related, or other contextual variables and differential treatment effects of EIBI. Non-EIBI behavioral interventions: The systematic reviews selected for this Special Report found the strength of evidence supporting various behavioral interventions for ASD to be low.
