Authors' recommendations:
After considering the available evidence in relation to safety, clinical effectiveness and costeffectiveness,
MSAC supported:
- removing the current interim funded CBCT items (56025 and 56026) from the MBS;
and
- public funding for two new MBS items, incorporating the three indications for dental/craniofacial imaging at the interim MBS fee of $113.15.
MSAC did not support the proposal to increase the current MBS interim fee for CBCT items. However, MSAC supports amending the proposed MBS item descriptors to align with the amendments proposed in November 2013 and April 2014.
