Applied behavior analysis-based interventions for autism spectrum disorder

Authors' objectives: The methods and principles of applied behavior analysis (ABA) have been used to design intensive and comprehensive behavioral treatment programs that attempt to improve outcomes in children, especially young children, who have autism spectrum disorder (ASD). ABA-based programs are generally referred to as intensive behavioral intervention (IBI). The Early Start Denver Model (ESDM) program includes ABA in combination with developmental and relationship-based approaches.
